Each piece pays homage to the legendary Miyamoto Musashi, Japanese swordsman, philosopher, samurai and author of The Book of Five Rings, a text on the philosophy, practice, training, and elements of swordsmanship and martial arts. In the background, Meerkatsu delivers elaborate interpretations of the five "elements" of combat described in The Book of Five Rings colored in blues and whites inspired by traditional Japanese porcelain, or Sometsuke.
